CHILLICOTHE R-II SCHOOL DISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING
NEW CONSTRUCTION
STRATA Architecture Inc. was hired to work with Chillicothe R-II School District to design a new 10,700 sq. ft. administrative building. The new building is located within the Chillicothe educational complex, just north of the Chillicothe High School and west of the football stadium. The building location allowed the facility to take advantage of existing parking lots, while also providing a visual connection to the main access into the property.
STRATA generated a new design that met the district’s desire to take advantage of the cost savings of using a pre-engineered metal building. The school administration, school board and staff provided significant programing and design input through the project. The team worked to develop a design that was visually appealing, responded to the surrounding educational buildings through exterior materials, and met the budget and needs of the client. The project scope included an administrative wing that included offices, a large board room and support spaces, as well as an educational wing that included classrooms and support spaces.
To meet the available budget, the interiors were finished with an industrial modern feel. The interior contains an interior accent wall “The Hive” that includes a large school logo that is to be painted by local students and a decorative display case taking on the form of a hornet hive.
