Angie Gaebler leads the firm in their preservation efforts. Her award-winning work includes a diverse body of preservation, rehabilitation, and adaptive use projects throughout the Midwest and East Coast regions. Her expertise has proven beneficial when designing sensitive and creative solutions for architecturally and culturally significant historic properties. Angie has experience working with a variety of clients, including governmental entities, private developers, community groups, and individual owners. She often provides preservation consulting to other architectural practices and developers for rehabilitation, additions, and new construction projects when the historic context may be impacted by the proposed changes. Angie believes that quality construction is achieved through detailing and working in the field with contractors to achieve exceptional results.
Trudy Faulkner

Trudy Faulkner has gained a wealth of expertise, primarily in the Midwest region, in the field of historic preservation. Her diverse work experience includes adaptive reuse and new construction projects with a specialty in designing for historically significant buildings and contexts. She is especially adept at assisting clients in the pursuit of historic tax credits and at guiding them through the associated review processes with local, state, and federal authorities. Trudy’s design sensibilities along with her technical knowledge of the built environment have produced many successful and award-winning projects. Her skills range from initial concept drawings through construction documents, technical surveys of existing structures, and report writing. She excels at project management and working with contractors in the field to create a positive, lasting impact in our community. Her extensive knowledge includes every phase of the architectural practice from planning and project management, to design and client collaboration through construction administration.
Claire Ashbrook

Claire Ashbrook has a diverse range of experience in the design and construction industry with knowledge extending across the fields of architectural design, construction project management, and research documentation, with a specialization in historic preservation. She has worked on large international high-rises to James Madison’s Montpelier in Orange, Virginia. In addition to her architectural and preservation expertise, Claire has managed construction projects, developed detailed bids, cost analysis assessments, and generated construction sequencing/phasing scenarios. This experience has provided her with a strong understanding of the challenges that arise throughout the development and construction phases of a project.
Jill Turner

Jill Turner brings 15+ years of experience to the STRATA team, working on a variety of project types including education, historic preservation, industrial, and recreation projects. Throughout her career she has consistently been involved in the design process from concept through construction administration. Her proficiency in modeling and managing 3-D design software contributes to project collaboration and efficiency. Jill’s well-rounded career also led her to the non-profit arena in East Africa where she worked on design projects for charity organizations in need of professional assistance.

Julie’s expertise in rehabilitation, restoration, preservation, and adaptive use is made evident by her exceptional work. Her vast experience has included work on projects of various sizes, budgets, and building types that reach from historic grand residences to a variety of municipal, commercial, federal, ecclesiastical, multi-family, and higher education project types. As a historical architect, Julie’s experience with research, documentation, and restoration efforts of numerous historic sites has contributed to a refined understanding of construction techniques, character-defining features, and aesthetics which enable modernization within original historic contexts. Julie has extensive experience in project management and ensures firm quality, standards and project implementation of highly detailed and complex project types. Her portfolio includes high-profile projects that have gained recognition with numerous local, regional, and national awards.

Zevi Aronstein is a recent graduate of the University of Kansas with a special interest in historic preservation and architectural history. His experience in school spanned a wide variety of learning opportunities, including traditional studio, an award-winning design-build studio, study abroad opportunities and international internship experience. He brings knowledge of 3D modeling and is excited to add his passion for working on historic structures to the firm.

Natalie M Anderson joined STRATA’s team in the summer of 2023 after graduating from the University of Kansas. In her studies, she cultivated skills in design and graphics through architecture and developed an enthusiasm for research and historical context through art history. Natalie’s background in both areas has armed her well for historically sensitive projects. Prior to graduating, Natalie worked in museums and archives, and is excited to start applying her skillsets to preserving the world around her.
Madison Irwin-Hall

Madison Irwin-Hall joined STRATA with having gained prior experience in historic preservation, construction, adaptive reuse and new construction. In her work, she found that her passion for existing buildings guided her studies and path forward in preservation. Problem solving through investigative, hands-on learning is Madison’s desired way to implement healthy and sustainable methods for preserving our past. Understanding historic buildings as a non-renewable resource, she hopes to use science based research to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our existing stock of buildings while making these structures viable well into the future.
