Lone Elm Community Park
MASTER PLAN, CULTURAL LANDSCAPE REPORT, AND NEW PARK SHELTERS
STRATA Architecture Inc. was part of a collaborative team with Olathe’s Parks and Recreation Department to design a new park shelter building and concessions building for the historic Lone Elm Community Park. The building is a prototype for this unique, historic site. Our firm was also responsible for developing Design Guidelines for the cultural landscape and structures to assist with future developments. The Lone Elm Community Park is the site of the Lone Elm Campground which served the Santa Fe, Oregon and California trails. The site maintains approximately half of its 160 acres in native grasses; the other half is devoted to recreational uses including girls’ softball and soccer facilities.
